Three Meals a Day

Warning: this post will be mouthwatering. It will make you want to run out to one of these restaurants immediately. And that’s OK.

Start you day with breakfast at Pamela’s Diner.

Spinach & feta egg white omelet, home fries, and wheat toast

Pamela’s is a Pittsburgh favorite and local chain. I loved the 50’s, kitschy vibe of the original site in Squirrel Hill with its colorful walls and chairs and cramped quarters. And for breakfast lovers- they serve it up all day, although their day ends at 3 or 4pm. Make sure you get there early, too, because the lines starts up quickly! It’s probably because of the menu options…How about some crepe style hotcakes, homemade hash, or their famous and out-of-this-world home fries?!

Next meal of the day- a lunch buffet at Coriander.

Indian-style salad bar

Dessert time! Amazing mango, pudding-y goodness.

While there are many tasty Indian options out there, I always enjoy a new restaurant opening. In Coriander’s case, they decorated the outside of the former Kazansky’s Deli in a very distinct chartreuse color before opening up a couple weeks ago. Now this is my new favorite spot for a reasonably priced ($7.99) and filling lunch buffet. I felt there was a higher level of authenticity while I was savoring my soup, then salad, then main meal, and of course, dessert. The salad bar was substantial (I love a good salad bar!), the veggie options were plentiful, and the dessert was new and exciting (to me). I want to go back, like, yesterday!

Final meal of the day: Dinner at Double Wide Grill.

Grinning with my lovely TV dinner

This gas station turned restaurant is the real deal. Great food, fun atmosphere, clever ideas. For example, I enjoyed a “tv dinner” next to a giant tire. That’s cool. I loved having the option of picking 4 or 5 different menu items and tasting a bit of everything. Apparently, they also have delicious burgers while filling more than a full page with veggie options. Yay for the hubs and for me! This was actually one of our Friday date night adventures (it was more of a late lunch date…). We will be visiting again soon.

Happy eating!
